Cohlmia Orthodontics has frequently ask questions by their patients. Here are some of the more common questions.
- Can I use insurance?
Yes, if your policy has orthodontic benefits. We will file your claim and payments will be made to our office.
- How do payments work?
Once you have a consultation with Dr. Jeff to determine the cost of orthodontic treatment, we will work out a payment plan to best fit your needs.
- What age should my child see an orthodontist to determine if he/she will need orthodontic treatment?
Typically, children should be checked around 7 years of age to see if Orthodontic treatment will be necessary. If you have any questions, give us a call and we can set up a free consultation so you can sit down with Dr. Jeff and map out a plan to best fit your needs.
- Does my dentist need to refer me?
No, it is not necessary for your dentist to refer you. Regardless, we will work closely with them to make certain you are receiving the best treatment possible for your specific case.
- Can I play sports with braces?
Yes, you can play sports with braces. We recommend wearing a mouthguard, which we can provide, if you are going to be playing any type of contact sport. If you happen to be hit or have an accident and notice a bent wire or any loose brackets, please contact our office.
- Can I still play musical instruments with my braces?
Yes, you can still play musical instruments with braces. There will be a short period of time when you will have to adjust to playing your instrument with braces, but over time, you won’t even notice them!
- Will it hurt?
Generally, braces make your teeth sore for a couple of days, but it is not painful. You can use an over-the-counter pain reliever, if necessary. Our patients’ comfort is of the utmost concern for us, so we use only high quality materials when treating each patient, to make treatment as comfortable as possible.
- Do you use Invisalign?
Yes, we do use Invisalign in certain circumstances. Invisalign is primarily used on patients who are finished growing and those who only need minor alignment to their teeth.
- Do you have clear/ceramic brackets?
Yes, we do have clear/ceramic brackets. These types of brackets are typically used on adult patients who prefer a more discreet approach to having braces.
